· Activity information: Youth will be participating in abseiling, a vertical activity where youth will wear harnesses & helmets to abseil from the mezzanine level to the floor. Youth will be supervised by a qualified guide and will be secured to a belay system, attaching their descenders to the abseil line to abseil approx 3m to the main floor. Activity is being run by qualified Regional Activity Team leaders to run abseiling.
This activity is a skill build activity, aiming to complete OAS Vertical Stage 2 for those who have participated in other vertical activities such as crate stacking and rock climbing. This will also support youth to build their confidence to participate safely in upcoming actvities with the unit. As always youth will be enccouraged and supported to participate by leaders.
Helmets & harnesses will be provided for the activity.
Specific consent must be given to participate as this is an adventurous activity.
Vertical activities come with a level of risk. Appropriate risk management and activity planning has been conducted in accordance with Scouts NSW procedures.
Youth who do not have consent will undertake other activities and can not be involved in the abseiling activity in any way.
