· Activity Start: 10:00am (meet leaders from 9:45am)
· Activity End: approx. 4:00pm

· Closing Date for registrations: Friday 28 August 2026 – 10pm
· Activity information: Youth will be participating in a day hike along the Wallarah Coastal Hike. This hike will include activities to build skills in navigation, cooking, hike technique and patrol management. Youth will be carrying a hike pack for the duration of the hike. The hike is approx. 13km unless the youth become geographically challenged 😊
This is a highly recommended activity for any youth considering their Adventurous Journey in the next year or so.
If you have the skills for bushwalking this is a fantastic opportunity to test them, lead a patrol and pass on your knowledge!
All scouts & venturers are encouraged to attend.
· What to wear/ bring:
- Wear - Hike shoes, group shirt, pants, Wide brim / bucket hat (no caps)
- Youth need to bring a hike pack with everything on this list.
- Hike pack(Min 55L - not a day pack or school backpack)
- 1 shorts/pants
- 1 collared shirt (polo shirts)
- 1 jacket / warm jumper
- 1 long pants
- 2 socks (thick socks)
- 2 undies
- beanie / gloves (for colder months only)
- poncho – It is well worth having a good quality poncho
- torch small / head lamp (with spare batteries)
- insect repellent small
- sunscreen small
- Simple1st aid kit – (a few large bandaids & 2 panadol tablets in a resealable bag)
- pen / small notepad (in a ziplock bag)
- Cooker - hexistove (gas cookers only with leader approval prior to hike)
- Fuel tablets
- matches
- pot for cooking - spoon,fork,knife
- tea towel
- Toilet paper(Remove from roll. Only take some in a ziplock bag)
- Small shovel
- toothpaste / toothbrush (small)
- deodorant
- brush (if needed)
- Tissues / Baby wipes (a few in a ziplock bag)
- Thick, strong garbage bags (rubbish/wet clothes)
- Medication (to be carried by youth member) – only take required Qty +1
- Meals (pack all food for each meal into a separate resealable bags)
- Snacks
- Lunch – must be something to be cooked
- Morning tea, afternoon tea
- An emergency meal
- Water bottle filled (easily accessible such as side pocket for regular drinking)
- 2 x 1L water bottles(separate bottles to distribute weight in pack)
- Small tarp, 4m rope, 2 pegs
- Youth DO NOT need tent, sleeping bag, pillow etc

- This activity will be conducted under direct adult supervision.
- For experienced Stage 4 Bushwalking Scouts or venturers they may be under indirect adult supervision.
- Stage 1,2 & 3 scouts & venturers will remain under direct supervision
- Both male and female leaders will be present
